On being busy…
March 20th, 2009
The past few months since I launched the new Old Tin Roof site have been full to the brim with exciting projects.
Unfortunately this means that I’ve not had the chance to finish off the posts I’ve drafted for the ‘Basics’ series, or even update the projects section. The good news is that I now have some more bits to add to them, and will be catching up in the next couple of weeks.
In the past few months I’ve been working on sites for international DJ’s, Management Consultancies, a University, the Government, the NHS, and various others. I’ll be announcing the launch of some of the projects next week, but here’s a little taster…
UCLan Student Elections
The Students Union at the University of Central Lancashire were considering the best way to leverage a social media platform to publicise their upcoming student elections, and to keep people updated from their various online media sources.
They got in contact with me and asked if I would be interested in working on a Facebook application that aggregated all the relevant content and also provide extra information about the candidates.
It was my pleasure to get involved and help design and develop the application, which has now at least a couple of hundred users on Facebook.
In the coming updates I’ll go through some of the elements of designing the Facebook application, and some of the good and not so good parts of working with the Facebook API.
In the meantime you can access the application at: http://apps.facebook.com/uclan_su_elections/ – please note, you need to have an account on Facebook to acccess the application, and it will ask you for permission to access your contacts (so that you can invite your friends!)
